Today we celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day, a day that began in remembrance of Flo Hyman.

In 1986, Flo Hyman passed away at age 31 while playing in a professional match in Japan. Flo accomplished many things during her life, including earning a silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games. Perhaps, the most important accomplishment was being a leader in the promotion for equality in women’s sports. #NGWSD #BlackHistoryMonth
