Climbing has taught me many valuable life lessons, including an understanding for perseverance, goal setting, discipline, achievement, and importantly, failure.  — I was 10 in this photo, and desperately wanted to make the junior national team. I slipped in finals, finishing at the bottom of the round, and I harshly learned the reality that you don’t always get what you wish for; or even work for... but if you persevere, you can achieve even greater feats.  — Let’s work to #keepherinthegame — P.S.  All of the competitors in this competition were required to wear the event shirt — however, when I put it on (there were just size L left) I was still swimming in the much too large t-shirt. My mom spent the night cutting the shirt’s sides and bottom and sewing it together to fit my little frame, so that I wouldn’t be encumbered by its size. My mom didn’t know much about climbing at all when I first began; but she recognized my love for the sport, and put all of her efforts forward to help me embark on a journey to realize my wild dreams.
