It’s why many historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) were founded. Some instances, they weren’t allowed to go to class, but they were still able to achieve. They were able to get their degrees. They were also able to found black fraternity’s and sororities. Which helped them find solidarity and camaraderie in predominantly white institutions. I celebrate these leaders who paved the way. I know today many see fraternities and sororities as just a hub for parties and pageantry, but the history is phenomenal and many still keep the legacy.
