It’s unbelievable to realise that the fashion industry, which is Britain’s 3rd biggest industry is almost completely unrepresented in Parliament, and is instead all too often trivialised, scandalised and dismissed !
It didn’t feature in any of the governments negotiations with the EU in the formation of a Brexit trade deal or influence the formation of any of the governments policies .
The fashion industry will be devastated by Brexit but yet no one in the government seems to show any signs of caring .
The entire fishing industry which although a great industry is by comparison similar to the income size of Harrods . However Fishing is all we hear about , just think how many headlines you’ve read about safeguarding the fishing industry and then think about how few times fashion is mentioned in a similar way .
Fashion brings billions into this country and employs 100s of thousands of people . It contributes more financially to the U.K. economy than the car industry, film industry, music industry and the fishing industry combined but the government do nothing to safeguard it’s future .
I signed the following letter to the government to plead for their support.
