According to UNICEF and the World Health Organization, 2.1 billion people around the world do not have access to clean, safe water in their homes. An estimated 3.36 million children are responsible for water collection trips. Five gallons of water weighs about 40 pounds, and the toll on the health of the women and children that do this work is incalculable.
