For Maria Grazia Chiuri’s most recent Haute Couture collection, the designer divined her inspiration from tarot. In a nod to Monsieur Christian Dior’s fascination with divination, Chiuri used a historic deck designed for the Duke of Milan in the 15th century to deal the cards of her collection. As seen in the short film by Italian director Matteo Garrone—“Le Château du Tarot”—each icon of the major arcana is represented through an exquisitely-crafted couture look. Temprance is seen in a flowing Devoré velvet gown hand-painted with tiny flowers. The Moon embraces an empire waist in shining golden chenille twill.
