Introducing Calen Knauf, an independent Canadian designer living and working in Vancouver, BC.⠀ ⠀ A multi-hyphenate designer, Calen's body of work over the last decade intersects the disciplines of furniture design, lighting, accessories, interior installation, and commercial product design.⠀ ⠀ In 2013, he formed the company Knauf and Brown with fellow industrial designer and lifelong friend, Conrad Brown. A series of projects including their award-winning Stockholm collection, garnered the duo international acclaim and recognition for their whimsical, off-kilter approach to functional domestic furnishings.⠀ ⠀ Calen balances ideas of refined utility and playful form, often overlapping those values in the objects he creates. Pieces like the P.O. Light or Sponge Table reimagine everyday objects by tinkering with unconventional shapes, textures, and colour.
