Let’s talk STRENGTH. As a sprinter, strength is really important and my usual training week consists of 3 gym sessions. But before you can get strong, first you have to be stable. Over Christmas and early January, I’ve been hitting up @FItnessFirstAU to focus on my injury prevention and injury management routine. We all want to get stronger and faster, but we need to make sure our bodies are stable and strong enough to absorb the strain we are putting them through. I am a big fan of doing prehab exercises – I wish I had done more of them when I was younger as they probably would have saved me a few injuries.  

Are they boring: yes.
Do they look hilarious: yes
Do they work: YES!

So if you’re reaching a plateau in your training, or are getting injured often, talk to a physio or personal trainer and maybe its time to make friends with a few therabands! Sometimes putting yourself and your training first means taking a step back and laying good foundations for your fitness goals.
