Like all of you, I have felt bruised and cut up over the last four years. Yesterday, as the inauguration took place, I was traveling to another country for work. It felt strange to leave right now, on Inauguration Day, and to miss out on the experience of watching our first Black and South Asian American woman Vice President get sworn into office, or to see Michelle Obama serve us magenta royalty looks, or to cry while watching a smiling Hillary Clinton watch it all. All day my text chains blew up with catharsis, with happiness, with floods of emotion, equal parts relief and joy. While waiting for our plane at the airport, I briefly caught some of it on a television— the moment where the Bidens and the Harrises (that’s what I’ll call them) climbed the steps of the Capital, linked side by side, with new light and hope for the future. The very same Capital which had been ransacked and desecrated two weeks before. With my mask on and my face shield over it, I watched them ascend. I felt good (except for my damn elbow) for the first time in a long time. I thought: Time to heal now. Not just the body of our nation, but these bodies we inhabit.」1月22日 5時24分 - amberrosetamblyn
