Losing someone when you haven’t been home in over a year is so strange, I can’t imagine him not being there. I’ll miss touching paws, walking to the graveyard, being cracked one by his giant head and seeing his little legs do an Irish jig in his dreams. Max had a huge presence, him & molly were 2 big lumps that did everything together from day 1. Molly got Max out of trouble about a thousand times, saving him from dogs that started fights, even rescuing him from a bush he got stuck in once. Dogs are kinda too great for humans, we are so lucky. Thank you for loving us Max, you brought joy to everyone you met. Such an innocent & sweet gentleman. I can see your big wriggly bod welcoming the postman, a taxi driver, the builders who fed you their sandwiches, all of our friends. You loved to meet people. I drew Max on a pot and planted some daisies in it to try and have some kind of ceremony as it’s strange not sharing this moment at home in harrow with my family. We got Max & Molly when I was recording demos for Made of Bricks. The night before he died it started snowing. Him and my mum watched it coming down together through the kitchen door to the back garden and he looked up at her all excited, he really loved the snow.
