カミラ・カベロさんのインスタグラム写真 - (カミラ・カベロInstagram)「This past year was full of heartbreaking challenges & uncertainty. We’ve faced a global pandemic, economic disruption- shining a light on centuries of systemic oppression, & so much more. 2020 was a time of constant reflection for many of us & I’ve been honest with myself about how I was showing up or not showing up in the world. Over the past couple of months, Ana Perez & Jerry Tello from the @la.cultura.cura have been guiding me on this journey filled with learning & unpacking the ways I have contributed to systems & beliefs that actively oppress others, whether by making insensitive comments in the past or by being a bystander, & growing to acknowledge the missteps along the way as I work to become a true ally. This is a lifelong process but this awareness has helped me commit to doing whatever I can to be a part of positive change. There’s much more to do but if you are interested in learning about racial healing or hearing about my experience, tune in to my conversation today with Jerry during the National Day of Racial Healing virtual event. Through this work, I’ve learned a lot about the challenges faced by our communities. And while we all struggled with the events that transpired from the last year, there were activists on the frontlines of those transformative moments carrying the trauma of the unjust systems some groups face everyday. To be a part of this positive change, we have a responsibility to support organizers to care for themselves as they advocate to move our society forward. Through my ongoing reflection, I committed to learning about how we can make these resources accessible to those who need it. That’s also why I am honored to partner with @movementvoterproject to launch the Healing Justice Project to provide funding for mental wellness resources for activists across the country. We hope to support these grassroots organizers in their tireless advocacy - thank you to all the activists that have continued to show up for us time & time again. We see you, we hear you, & we are here for you 💕 I'll be highlighting some of these incredible organizers in the coming months.
