DYK a lions roar can be heard up to 8km away depending on the environmental conditions. Roaring is a form of communication that lets other lions know territories and also lets lions from the same pride know each other’s location. Each lion has a unique roar like we as humans have a unique voice. At the sanctuary it is incredibly difficult to differentiate the nuances between individuals but there are a few distinct individuals like Suja whose roar can be noticed quite easily from far, well....... actually, from up to 8km away! 🤣
