Granted, we re-open the store down the block at 65 Broad St. next month, but it still feels like the passing of an old friend. We made the move up from the first Stash on Monmouth St. to Broad in 1999, taking over an old ice cream parlor. 35 Broad St. was where I Stashed my dreams: we shot #jayandsilentbobstrikeback there in 2001, hosted many a #vulgarthon, did countless signings, lotsa poker games, a wedding, and so much more. One night, after my record-breaking 7 hour Q&A at the #countbasietheatre, we opened the Stash at 2am and I signed stuff for another 4 hours until the sun came up. 35 Broad St. was where @baronvonflanagan and @tellemants created @tesdtown with @bqquinn, which gave birth to 7 seasons of @comicbookmenamc - a show that made our little shop the most famous comic book store in the world! So many superstars of sci-fi and comics royalty passed through our doors, including the legends behind Batman, Chewie, Lando, Uhura, and so many others. Even the @guinnessworldrecords came to the Stash the day we had the world’s biggest gathering of people cosplaying @jayandsilentbob! I remember milestones - like when Harley was born, we hung an “It’s a Girl!” sign in the window. Or quiet moments, like when @jaymewes and I would visit late at night while Ratface was still building it to plot and dream about our future. Or the day I promised Walt “We’ll be open for at least 10 years,” never dreaming we’d more than double that estimate. I know my Mom’s been to the store a bunch but before he left this best of all possible worlds, my Dad got to visit the Stash as well. So many memories.
