#AndresSerrano tackles social and religious themes with his provocative works. In this image of a beehive, however, the American artist expresses a happy moment. "I like bees. They have a strong work ethic and are very skilled scouts. Some scientists believe they have been around for 120 million years, and it is said that where the bees go, so goes the human race, such is their importance in the ecological balance. While shooting the hive, I accidentally tipped a light stand, and in a flash the swarm disappeared. The queen bee, however, was locked inside the hive, and the beekeeper explained that the others would come back to her soon... He was right, an hour later every single bee came back!"
