I believe in the power of strong starts, and this simple yet profound day in Joshua Tree was exactly what I was looking for. As we drove into the park this morning, I looked out at the desert land stretching as far as I could see and felt its sacred pull. There’s something desolately spiritual about this space sandwiched between the hot sand and sun. It’s not in what is there.. but in what isn’t. The emptiness. The silence. Rock piles of endlessly fascinating shapes and sizes, green patches of vegetation I’ve never seen before (or simply not paid close enough attention to remember), and a vast pale blue sky flooded my wide eyes. My senses were locked in. Sunlight and shadows danced hand in hand across the symphony of colors and textures. I felt my body get lighter in the passenger seat as my mind settled into a hazy state of bliss. I was utterly still, floating, one with space and time. I was at peace. This, I thought, is what I am here for. Sure, I wanted to go on plenty of hikes and see all the beauty the park had to offer, but I also didn’t care about any sort of schedule or timeline (which is rare). We could do anything and I’d be perfectly content. I’m just happy to be alive. And here. Welcome, 2021. #joshuatree #2021 #strongstart #photodump」1月4日 10時08分 - carlywopat
