As I lay here with my son Bear asleep in my arms, I wanted to share something with you from my ❤.️ No matter what painful challenges we have faced, whether it's losing loved ones or losing jobs, there is always an opportunity for light to come in. There’s so much to be grateful for as we work through grief. My heart is heavy for the millions who die of hunger a year... every year. That is something few of us can imagine. And this year that number will be staggering. NPR, Mercy Corps, and UNICEF estimate that 9 million people die from hunger each year, and 3 million are children. 😢 Beyond heartbreaking 💔 Let's not wish away 2020, but instead let's celebrate everything that we have to be grateful for. From the simple things like your favorite breakfast that you mastered or that local vegan restaurant that you love so much that nourishes you, or the friends that make you laugh, to the love you may have in your life, or the extra time you had to watch your child grow, The beauty of the light in their eyes and the joy that they bring you. As we enter the new year, Let’s let love lead the way, and ask how we can better our community or be of service to those in need. Allow more self care into your life. Let’s be about love and strong immune systems (eat plants! 😉). A tradition of mine is to take a moment to look back on my past year in my new years journal to see/celebrate what I mastered and what still needs more attention and focus on my visions for the next year. If you're needing extra motivation or tips to get started The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin is a great book to help. Also another oldie, but goodie (I read it about 15 years ago!) that really helped at the time is Julie Morgenstern’s Organizing from the Inside Out. check them out 🤓📚 I lost my dear mother right before Covid and I am grateful for everything I have. I feel extremely lucky for my good fortunes (son, home, and job as well as a healthy mind, body, and spirit) I hope you have found many moments of peace and joy during the holiday season. Cheers to you, your family, and your new year. 😘
