As we mentioned then, Mr Bell created original artwork for Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) and the associated singles from the album: Ashes To Ashes, Fashion, Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps) and Up The Hill Backwards, along with various promotional adverts and posters for all the above.   Before we leave the 40th year anniversary of the album we thought we would share some of those posters and adverts along with one for Crystal Japan. This is but a small selection from those out there and there are enough items of Scary Monsters memorabilia to fill a hefty booklet or weighty pamphlet. (What’s the difference between a booklet and a pamphlet anyway?)  Bell created the Scary Monsters album artwork from one of his own photographs, that he took alongside Brian Duffy at the same session. A fragment of one of Brian’s shots was used for the background of the album cover and three of his images were used for the various Ashes To Ashes sleeves and the US album and single instore poster, picture #3 in this collection.  The OFTEN COPIED NEVER EQUALLED run of six adverts in the music press were all different, each with a unique artwork created by Edward with different shots he took at the album session.
