Their incredible talent and powerful, challenging voices are only matched by their respect and honor of what it is to be an artist: to see something new in what has been done so many times before to shred the commonplace with personal honesty to know that you have no ownership over a world full of inspiration but you do have the responsibility of the tools of your perception and effort that to be a member of a collaborative community is to show up without ego, to give freely of the most precious parts of you, to see past the false narratives that the weak in society force onto race, gender, class and identity and to dedicate yourself above all else to joining with other artists to telling human stories. These artists represent voices that are constantly marginalized and disrespected by society, even silenced within their own communities. But these artists rise and rise and rise.
