I know I had some huge revelations about how easy it is to take things for granted. My health, my family, my job, my privilege, my rights... even the day to day things like having internet, toilet paper, getting a haircut, and basic human contact. Traumatizing and disruptive as this year has been for many of us, the silver lining for me has been learning to appreciate the things I have, and really think about how blessed I am to still have hot water, food, shelter, technology to communicate with my loved ones... and thinking about how so many people don’t have these basic things. So while 2020 was a dumpster fire of a year, it was simultaneously a beautiful wake up call to count my blessings, give back when I can, prioritize what really matters, and remember that the night is darkest before dawn.
