@CamilaFalquez’s work can be understood as a kind of sympathetic magic. An empowering, imitative ritual in which she stages her subjects - often sidelined by the powerful - in the very modes of power, using the frames and motifs often reserved for them. Like the pictures above where the subjects wear the @グッチ Epilogue collection by @Alessandro_Michele. "I'm trying to give them that sense of power through that visual language that we've been taught that only certain people have...to include them in the mainstream narrative of beauty, and then with some luck, we will be able to include them in their conversations of power and dignity. I'm hoping very soon we don’t have to use the white codes to understand power, and can express our own."
