Great way to start a day. We return to that theme today with what we think was the first of many Bowie postermags from across the years, POPSTER No. 14, published in the UK in the second half of 1973. POPSTER folded down to an A4 to sit on newsagent shelves but became a massive A1 poster when opened out. Along the bottom of each issue was a cut off section which folded into a 16-page lyric and picture booklet called POPTEN. This section is often missing from second-hand copies that come up for sale, but rarely had any relevance to the cover artist. On the back of the poster were two A3 spreads focusing on the featured artist (swipe to see), with the rest taken up by news and gossip about other popstars of the day, and as if that wasn’t enough for your 15p, horoscopes too. POPSTER trundled on for at least 34 issues with issues 24 and 28 focusing on those furry, eco-friendly critters from Wimbledon, The Wombles! Copies of the Bowie issue can often be found listed in mint condition for anywhere between thirty and sixty quid, but a slightly battered one will set you back a fraction of that. As with the image posted for Day 24 , this poster had another shot of Mr Sane sporting the same Kansai Yamamoto outfit. Somebody out there has their own homemade version of it.
