It was about encountering the unfamiliar and seeing the possibility of new understandings. Embracing hardship for the sake of knowledge. With their two sons aged 7 and 3 they crossed the Pacific on a container ship. The type that probably brought you your phone. Slow. With no “climbing wall” or an all you can eat buffet. By bus, riverboat and train through South Korea, China, India and Nepal the family toiled, eventually making it to Zanskar. In a place far from home they spent the summer in a monastery. Bruce captures this journey with wit and through the eyes of his children. In his book “Blue Sky Kindgom” we travel along and glean the hard earned wisdom of travel.
