This week on Behind the Views: Lauren and Annael Tolila (@viatolila). Growing up, art was a central part of Lauren and Annael’s family. “When we were children, we were always filming with our father’s camera during summer holidays. For us, that was the definition of fun,” the sister duo recently told T+L. “The idea of capturing life’s moments has always been in our roots.”

Lauren and Annael say that like many photographers, they often seek out distinct color and light when shooting. But beyond that, they also try to connect with their surroundings in a more meaningful way. “We work a lot with our feelings. We love spontaneity, to be in touch with the emotional aspect of a place, its energy, its vibe, and the people around.”

Their advice for aspiring photographers: “Practice photography as much as you can to define your own style and start building a portfolio. Wherever you go take your camera, study the light of the place, and shoot. Always continue to be curious and experiment.”
