It's getting colder out there, and YSP Curator Sarah Coulson @sarahc_ysp has been looking back on a winter install for our KAWS exhibition in 2016:⠀

"There’s no knowing how the weather will behave in Yorkshire. Snow is a possibility at almost any point in winter, so when planning an installation during these months there is always a chance you will face some challenging conditions. Our iconic KAWS exhibition certainly brought some freezing temperatures and blizzards upon its arrival in January 2016. ⠀

With the show due to open at the beginning of February, the siting of six extraordinary, gigantic wooden sculptures in the landscape pressed on despite the cold. YSP’s highly skilled technical team worked alongside specialists in the installation of the artist’s work to carefully piece together these remarkable and beautifully crafted sculptures. ⠀

The backdrop of snow created an incredible start to the life of the open-air element of KAWS’ exhibition with us, and it was a joy to see its subsequent evolution through the vibrant greens of spring and summer, into the golden hues of autumn, moving through the cycle of a year as it was enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of visitors."⠀
