‘For my #SS21 presentation, I was able to create my own depiction of our society in which key social issues and emotions were represented through a series of scenes across interconnecting rooms,’ says Roksanda Illinic. For spring, the London-based designer held an immersive presentation at The Penthouse, a vibrant and art-populated suite inside the Grade II listed 19th century Gasholders at Kings Cross, which she designed last year. Here, a diverse range of 15 women, including Honey Ross, a body-positive campaigner, and Awuor Dit, a politics student and former refugee from South Sudan, convened in a series of mise-en-scenes, while sporting Illinic’s colourful tailoring, fluid gowns and soft loungewear.

‘2020 has been a completely unique year and in many respects extremely difficult but I also feel it has been a turning point for all of us,' Illinic says. Not only have we been forced to pause and fundamentally review who we are and what is important to us, but in these dark moments, many key issues have been exposed and are now being given the space they deserve in a new, positive light which we can all learn from.’
