It was a great way to start the day and get back to nature. He was fortunate in that he could walk to the surf which made things heaps easier. He didn't have to get in a car and drive and cop traffic and traffic lights and then have to look for ages for a spot which is just the worse. One time when he was walking to the surf he kicked his toe on a rock and broke it and couldn't go surfing for three months, that wasn't too good but in that time he learnt guitar and recorded an album of songs where he was playing the guitar and singing to it. It was pretty successful and ended up being a world wide hit and he retired from his job and lived off the royalties and he went surfing everyday (which he was doing before but now he could surf for as long as he wanted because he didn't have to go to work).
