For Harlow’s 8th birthday, I surprised her with a subscription to @heyrowangirl and let her do something she’s been asking to do for the past two years— get her ears pierced! I said “no” to Mazzy at the same age, but I think one thing 2020 has taught me is that our kids deserve small milestones to celebrate. I am also all for helping my kids express themselves in ways that make them feel confident and in control of their own bodies. And then to make the moment even sweeter, I got my ears pierced too! I re-pierced my second and third hole, which had both closed up over time. They were always too low down on my ear, so it’s super exciting to finally have the piercings in the right place. Now Harlow and I have a whole ear care routine we do together every night and can’t wait to get matching mother daughter earrings. What a gift.
