On this day in 1955, a seamstress in Montgomery, Alabama refused to give up her seat on a bus to a white man. She was arrested. What followed was a 381-day boycott of the bus system by blacks which was organized by a 26-year-old Baptist minister named the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. What came next was a Supreme Court ruling to desegregate public transportation in Montgomery. It wasn't until the 1964 Civil Rights Act that desegregation became more widespread. But it started with one woman. #RosaParks
