Magazines loved to hire one talented person who could do it all rather than two for their budget, but they would want to hire him anyway, because he was also easy going, fun, unflappable, and always helpful on a trip. I had the pleasure of traveling with him to The Virgin Islands with Sports Illustrated, to Jamaica with @harpersbazaarus to #careyes #mexico with Life Magazine ( to name just a few locales) to the Wild West with photographer @patrickdemarchelier where we found a racetrack with those little race cars and we spent a lot of time racing round in circles. This was possible because Francois was so quick in applying make up we always seemed to finish early enough to go for a swim before sunset or enjoy a cocktail at waters edge. He was a true artist and a gentle soul and while we lost touch over the years I will always remember him with tears in my eyes like now, because he had the kind of sweet soul the world needs more of.
