At age 16, Philippe is drafted by his father to the workings of international relations: he begins with a trip around the world and travels across Africa before exploring Asia in 1954 and the United States in 1956 and 1957. He travels with a suitcase containing Longchamp samples. “My mission was to meet with my father’s contacts, I was curious about everything”. En 1953, à peine âgé de 16 ans, Philippe Cassegrain entame un tour du monde et parcourt l’Afrique pendant deux mois. Puis, en 1954, il découvre l’Asie avant de débarquer enfin aux Etats-Unis en 1956 et 1957. Il s’accompagne à chaque fois d’une valise contenant des échantillons Longchamp : “J’avais pour mission d’aller saluer des connaissances de mon père et de présenter nos produits.
