He took center stage at the tournament with a memorable performance against England, scoring an iconic goal that he later described as the “Hand of God” and then netting a second after beating seven English defenders. Following his death, there has been an outpouring of grief. Fans have gathered at murals depicting the soccer great in Buenos Aires -- and in Naples -- the home of one of his former clubs.
