In his new book, #BarackBeforeObama, campaign photographer David Katz shares up-close stories about the man, and his family, before they ever set foot in the White House. “He and the family were willing to let the American people into their lives in such a personal way, and that’s not easy to do,” Katz says. “Even though the presidency is overwhelming, I’m sure, and this amazing thing, he and the family still are the same family I first met in 2004.” At the link in bio, Katz tells the stories behind some of his favorite photographs.
