🙈CELLULITE😤 I personally had cellulite prior to my fitness journey when I was around 145 lbs 26% body fat so many of us are genetically predisposed to it. My first total body transformation I got down to 12-14% body fat (stage weight 118 lbs) & for the past 6 years I’ve been fluctuating between 17-22% body fat while gaining muscle mass💪🏽 I was able to keep most of my cellulite off with diet, training & stable healthy hormone levels from ages 28-33. With the rapid onset of weight gain during my first trimester, high carb/high fats (unable to maintain a healthy diet due to extreme all day nausea), elevated estrogen levels, I’ve acquired cellulite all over during my pregnancy🤷🏼‍♀️ Nausea & fatigue resolved my second trimester so I was able to resume healthy eating habits & workouts to slow my weight gain & reduce appearance of cellulite. However if cellulite is a mark of keeping my growing baby daughter healthy, & nourished, then I wear it with a badge of honor🙋🏼‍♀️ As long as I’m doing my best to stay healthy and active, I want to show women that it’s okay, normal & even necessary at times to have cellulite. If and when you’re ready to tighten up, go for it, but a little cushion never hurt nobody 🙈😂 So cellulite, what exactly is it? It’s fatty cells trapped beneath connective tissue creating a dimpling appearance. How do we get it? Up to 80-90% of women will get it due to genetics, weight gain, due to a high saturated fat and/or high concentrated carby diet, sedentary lifestyle, higher levels of estrogen (such as during pregnancy), and low thyroid just to name a few causes. How do we get rid of it? Reduce concentrated sweets in diet, reduce high fat & high carb diet (such as removing sweets and dairy), increased workout intensity/duration (include cardio HIIT and circuit training) and life stages and conditions that reduce estrogen (breastfeeding, part of cycle before and after ovulation, menopause and after). You can always get your estrogen levels checked to see if this hormone is imbalanced and leading to excess weight gain or fat retention.
