Sakura of America（サクラクレパス）さんのインスタグラム写真 - (Sakura of America（サクラクレパス）Instagram)「Here’s a glimpse into my full ink-on-wood process! This piece was a commission for a client and her ferret, Zero! I lightly sketched out the layout of the piece with a 0.7 Sakura127 mechanical pencil & was grateful for my Sumo Grip eraser for all the times I changed my mind on placement 😅.⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ Before starting a piece, I sand the wood down with the finest grit sandpaper, rinse off the dust, allow it to dry,⁠⠀ and then I apply one coat of transparent watercolor ground as a base. Once everything is dry, you can ink⁠⠀ away and paint without worrying about bleeding into the wood. I then outline and draw the piece with 02 & 03 Pigma Micron pens and fill in the background with Pigma Professional Brush pens.⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ Some clients like this black & wood look, but others will ask for step three, the watercolor! This is where I use Sakura Koi paints to bring vibrancy to the piece! I then finish it with my handy dandy white Gelly Roll pens for those 3-D highlights and sparkling skies!⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ What do you think of my ink-on-wood process?
