Bianca Kea grew up with little Afro-Latinx representation in Detroit, and did her best to connect with her Mexican roots. Still, when the little representation she did see failed to look like her, she decided to educate herself on the Latin American community's Black diaspora. This self-education led Bianca to create Yo Soy Afro Latina (@yosoyafrolatina)—an online brand dedicated to highlighting and empowering Black women in the Latinx community. Fans of the brand can purchase mugs, t-shirts, hats, and other accessories made to empower young Afro-Latinxs. ⁠
