For the November issue of Vogue Italia, @AlessiaGlaviano & @Maranif selected a portfolio of Photo Voguers who use images to break down stereotypes and taboos.
One of them is @SophieKietzmann: “True beauty exists beyond the confines of the eye of the beholder. The beholder can flinch and look away when they see something they don’t know or understand. True beauty, however, derives its strength from the contrast of existence despite any outside forces such as sexism, prejudice, judgement, hate or shame. Beauty births us into this world and it is in recognizing this that we are liberated from any learned understanding of it. This image reminds us of this: the skin we live in is the canvas to the world, but in letting others paint its surface with their opinions we give up our true nature and power. Our beauty is a gift made to us personally and explicitly and can only expand through our own recognition of it.”
