There’s stuff in there that I don’t like (voting for DOMA (although he famously beat Obama to “evolving” on gay marriage) and helping to author the Crime Bill (which he now says he regrets). But there is a lot of good in his record. Biden has authored legislation: making it easier for 9/11 victims to subpoena and be compensated for their losses in the attacks, making genocide a criminal offense (yep, and it took until 1986). That same year, he introduced the first senate bill to address climate change, even getting it signed by Reagan. He voted yes on the economic rescue packages of 2008. In 2009 he was instrumental in the passage of the ACA which made sure more than 20 million more people had health insurance. He sponsored the Violence Against Women act of 1994 (this is a little bit after Trump beat up his first wife). Despite some seriously problematic racial votes in his past, he advocated for economic sanctions against South Africa’s apartheid government, a deeply partisan issue, opposed exclusively by Republicans at the time. Care about children? So does Joe. That’s why he served as primary sponsor of the PROTECT Our Children Act of 2008, helping law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute child predators.
