She gave us 12 years of happiness- 3 years ago they told us she had a few months left to live, at the time we laughed that she was going to live so long she could say “3 months? I’m going 3 years!” And she did just that. The first day we got Billie, we brought her home to our apartment— our friends, interns at the time, called into their internships sick so they could run over & play with her. We played for hours and hours then went to grab a quick lunch- we couldn’t bring Billie Jean with us and we didn’t have any doggy gates, so we left her in the bathtub for about 20 minutes... we got back and walked in excitedly to grab her, only to discover that she had pooped all over the bathtub and herself, we all stared in shock- andy walked up to her and vomited right on top of her— on top of our brand new puppy! I was very clearly in over my head and woefully unprepared. So yeah, that was day 1 with BJ and one of the funniest memories of my life. That set the tone. My life with her was full of laughs and chaos. She snuggled me through every bad day, every sick day, and when my babies were born. Thank you to every friend and family member who loved her like their own. Dogs really do love us so much better than we deserve. Thank you, sweet girl, for loving us so well.
