“Pride gives you space to be open to explore yourself,” says Brooklyn-based designer and illustrator Shanée Benjamin (@shaneebenjamin). She uses her art to create that space. “Black lesbian women played a major part in the history of LGBTQ rights, yet we don’t see representation in the media,” Shanée says. “We’re here behind the scenes donating, leading organizations, leading marches. It’d be nice if we can get a little bit of love.” So, she’s creating her own representation. “Through my artwork, I hope queer women can feel liberated and seen, and I hope they have a sense of community.” Head to westelm.com/standwithpride for more. @trevorproject
