This week in 2011, Capitol Records released The SMiLE Sessions, a compilation of Beach Boys recordings originally produced by Brian, primarily in 1966 and 1967. The album featured some of Brian’s most ambitious music, including the masterworks “Good Vibrations,” Surf’s Up” and “Heroes & Villains.” Said Brian: “The album has a heart. And it has feelings. It expresses what it's like to be a kid in an impressionistic way. Smile depicts the psychedelic magic of childhood.”
