The proponents of this initiative have been clear — they want to force a woman to continue a pregnancy with no exceptions for health or individual circumstances — even in cases of rape, risks to the woman’s health, or a lethal fetal diagnosis.
Coloradans have trusted patients, families, and physicians to make these decisions, not politicians. Democrats, Republicans, and unaffiliated voters alike have repeatedly rejected abortion bans at the ballot in the past.

This is a fundamental Colorado value that crosses party lines.
Proposition 115 makes no exceptions for individual circumstances. Most abortion care happens earlier in pregnancy. However, many people in our state, particularly people of color, immigrants, young people, and low-income families face other systemic barriers to accessing abortion care earlier in pregnancy.

Health should guide important personal, medical decisions about pregnancy — not political agendas.

Abortion later in pregnancy represents about one percent of all abortion care.

Women already face significant barriers and obstacles to reproductive health care. We should not be making it more difficult to access necessary medical care.

Colorado is one of the few states left in the country that leaves reproductive health care decisions up to women and their health care providers without political interference. People shouldn’t have to travel to access the health care they need. If Prop 115 passes, more people will have to travel out of state, and will have fewer options to pursue abortion care.
