Family members of Walter Wallace Jr. called for medical assistance (not police intervention) after a domestic incident involving the 27-year-old, who was in the midst of a mental health crisis. Instead, two police officers who arrived on the scene ended up firing at least seven times each and killing Walter. As the family's lawyer said, "When you come to a scene where somebody is in a mental crisis, and the only tool you have to deal with it is a gun... where are the proper tools for the job?"
