In this episode of the #StayHumanPodcast, I sat down with my friends Patty and Manny Oliver, Founders of @changetheref.

On Valentine’s Day, 2018, Patty & Manny's son, Joaquin, was killed in the shooting that occurred at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Ever since Joaquin’s passing, they have turned to art and activism to ensure their son’s voice stays at the forefront of the gun violence prevention movement. Together we discuss how to remember the beautiful moments and how to live on in this midst of tragedy. Through their foundation Change The Ref, their ultimate goal is to give the young generation of survivors and victims a disrupting voice to help lead the way to change – a more peaceful future. They have shared their tragedy to allow themselves and others to heal, and it's a beautiful thing to witness.
