And in order to combat antisemitism, we must first understand it. The Anti-Defamation League just said that violence against Jews is at historic levels, and just last year reported more incidents than any year since they began tracking it over 4 decades ago. A man walked into a Pittsburgh synagogue and murdered 11 people, targeting the organization HAIS. Signs are posted all over the world blaming Jews for COVID. Very high profile celebrities and athletes such as Ice Cube have recently posted dehumanizing antisemitic tropes. Figures like Louis Farrakan continue to spew Jewish tropes, making them targets of many of the accusations that fueled Nazis. And there is the growing emboldenment of Nazis around the world through the internet, that can in no way be regulated. This is against a backdrop in which Two-thirds of American millennials surveyed in a recent poll cannot identify what Auschwitz is. The holocaust is not required to be taught in all schools. And there are very few survivors remaining who can provide firsthand accounts. Antisemitic tropes are becoming more and more common. And if we are going to fight them, we must first be able to identify them. Please learn these tropes and help us stand up to antisemitism. We know where this road can lead us.
