Thanks to you, we were able to provide vitally needed diapers, wipes and PPE to the tribe, as well as raising over $11,000 in direct donations which were used to provide additional necessities, especially desperately needed baby formula, for families struggling with the economic effects of Covid-19. After discussion and guidance from the tribe, we have partnered with the Lakota Tiwahe to handle disbursement of the donations on the ground. The Lakota Tiwahe Center is a part of the Lakota Tribal Education Department, and provides early intervention services and assistance to families of infants and toddlers on the reservation. After speaking to the Tiwahe and discovering they already field more urgent requests for diapers and formula than they can supply, we immediately arranged for your donations to be routed to them, where they have already been disbursed to families in need. Unfortunately, as Covid-19 rages on, the need continues. Coronavirus cases in South Dakota have skyrocketed in the last 30 days. With winter beginning to set in, providing continued, sustained support is more important than ever. By continuing to assist the tribe essential items that those experiencing pandemic related economic hardship may have trouble getting, we can continue to provide a meaningful and instant form of assistance to the tribe.
