ジェイミー・カラムさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ジェイミー・カラムInstagram)「There’s so much I want to tell you about this album and I will in due course, it’s turned out to be incredibly special with many wonderful and talented people involved, and to whom I’m going to pay tribute to as we lead up to the release on the 20th November. My wife @mssophiedahl has been telling me for years to make a Christmas album. So I started a notebook that began to fill with festive ideas. By the time we were in lockdown, my tour postponed for many months, the ideas started to develop flesh on their bones. I was in shorts and flip-flops, at the piano, having negotiated a morning of shared homeschool, picking away at these songs one by one. Sophie would pass by, in the in between of working on her own writing, listening, encouraging and throwing rhyming couplets my way like snowballs. These were truly beautiful moments. I wanted to reflect this creative romance in the artwork. We discussed ‘The Fabulous Baker Boys’, Wong Kar Wai’s “In the mood for love”. Batting around these cinematic visual ideas was fun but we also felt like we wanted to HAVE some fun making the pictures. We were so lucky then to have the loan of our friend @robinderrick ’s (who was also driving and playing incredible tunes) vintage 1959 Impala, and to have our friend and living legend of makeup @lisaeldridgemakeup there, my untameable follicles were tamed by @alainpichonhair and the whole thing was elegantly pulled together through the magical lens of the @rodeojane ‘s camera. The wonderful and timeless design was concocted by @madefourcreative. This frame is an authentic moment and reflects so well the way the record was put together, with love, care, attention and spontaneity. More on that soon. It’s a couple, in love, coming home from a party, at Christmas. That fragment of candid joy is the visual backdrop for this album “The Pianoman at Christmas”. Thank you to Sophie who brought the writing of this record to life with me, at home, in an incongruous locked down Springtime, barefoot, still bringing the magic whilst chaos whirled around like snowflakes.
