Nu’uanu literally means “cool height” in English.
Honolulu Myohoji is located in Nu’uanu avenue in Oahu.

A bit more about history:
In the famous battle of Nu’uanu in 1795, Ka-mehameha of Hawaii drove the Oahu warriors up to the Pali; according to the some accounts, three hundred survivors were driven over the cliff; others say the warriors jumped to their deaths rather than surrender.
