🏛 The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, @holtoflondon, yesterday met young people involved in the Trust’s Proud Places programme at the Bromley-By-Bow Centre.
.
The new educational programme encourages young people aged 7-18 to engage with their local heritage by contributing to restoration projects.
.
HRH also unveiled the newly-restored Northumberland House Arch during the visit - the first Proud Places project to be completed.
.
The project ambassadors told The Duke about their involvement:
.
🔨 Working with the stonemasons restoring the arch.
🏠 Raising awareness of the project amongst local residents.
📖 Exploring the history of their local area.
.
The arch once stood on the Strand, and was moved to Bromley-By-Bow in 1874. It had been damaged by pollution and weathering but is now fully restored to its former glory.
