I’d decided to study fashion design at FIT . I somehow got my love of magazines and imagery tangled up with the idea of working in fashion and decided to become a designer. Most importantly it got me to NYC. . I spent my days learning how to sew and drape (barely) and my nights at Red Zone and Love Machine. . But I never stopped taking pictures. . Finding models was easy. Between the clubs and the campus there was a never ending parade of fresh faces to photograph. . It was just a slightly more glamorous big city version of what I’d been doing in Maine. . After only a few months I’d had enough of sewing. I decided to switch into the photography program. I wasn’t able to transfer mid semester so I threw myself into making pictures. . I set a goal for myself. I wanted to get my first tear sheets (remember those) before I turned eighteen. .
