A study from Cornell University just revealed that “Mr. Trump made up nearly 38 percent of the overall ‘misinformation conversation,’ making the president the largest driver of the ‘infodemic’ falsehoods involving the pandemic.”

And the timeline
1/28/20: national security adviser Robert O’Brien warned Trump, “This will be the biggest national security threat you face in your presidency.”
1/29/20: trade adviser Peter Navarro told Trump that the virus could produce “a full-blown pandemic, imperiling the lives of millions of Americans.”
2/7/20: 45 confessed to Bob Woodward that the virus was “deadly stuff,” 5x more fatal than “even your strenuous flus. This is more deadly. This is 5 percent.”
3/20: 45 continued to lie to the American public, saying “Personally, I would say the number is way under 1 percent.”

2/7/20 to Bob: “It goes through air, Bob. That’s always tougher than the touch. You know … you don’t have to touch things. Right? But the air, you just breathe the air and that’s how it’s passed … this is deadly stuff.”
2/25/20 to us: 45 said the disease “is very well under control in our country,” & “we’re doing a great job.”
2/26/20 to us: Trump predicted that “within a couple of days,” the number of Covid-19 infections in the U.S. “is going to be down to close to zero.”
2/28/20 to the public - “it’s going to disappear like a miracle.”

3/9/20 to us: Trump compared the country’s coronavirus deaths to the flu’s annual death toll (despite admitting in private that it was ~ 5x more deadly) tweeting “nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on.”
3/10/20 to us: he urged Americans to “just stay calm” because “it will go away,” & 3/12/20 said “it’s going to go away.”
4/13/20 to Bob: “if you’re the wrong person, you don’t have a chance. This rips you apart. It’s the plague.”

It did not “go away” like “a miracle.”

204,000 Americans and counting are dead. That’s hundreds of thousands of shattered families. Because he lied to us. Because he thought it would damage his reelection. Because he wants to win more than he wants us to live.
